Dear Pre-School Class: Last Stop Ireland

Before we headed back home we stopped in Dublin, Ireland.

This is the view from the castle and this field was once a bay or black pool where the Vikings founded a village that would become Dublin.

We saw Dublin Castle where the city began.

Buildings lit green for Ireland. The colors of Ireland: Orange — standing for Irish Protestants. Green — signifying Irish Catholics and the republican cause. White — representing the hope for peace between them.

Many buildings at night would go green, an important color for Ireland.

Originally you had to pay a toll of a penny to cross the bridge, hence the name. You can also see the colors of Ireland in the lighting.

We crossed back and forth across the River Liffey and one was the historic Ha’Penny Bridge.

Trinity College Library was the filming location for the Jedi Archive in “Star Wars Attack of the Clones.”

My dad’s told me we would see Jedi at this library in Dublin, but I didn’t meet any, although it was huge.

Drew noticed he could slide down the smooth mounting around the sphere.

Also, we came across this cool sculpture of sphere within a sphere.

Stockades in the cellar of the cathedral.

Although, I found myself in trouble in the basement of Christ Church Cathedral’s basement, luckily my dad’s helped me escape.

The row of flags in the cathedral.

We went to the 800 year old St. Patrick Cathedral and it was an amazing place.

Waterfall Iveagh Gardens

My dad even found a garden waterfall in Dublin.

Wellington Monument stands at 175 foot and was constructed in commemoration of the victories of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington.

We then stopped by a huge monument in a park.

21st-century cable stayed bridge with a harp-like design.

On the way back to the hotel we went by the Samuel Beckett Bridge that is lit up at night and is used to spell out words.

Flying Aer Lingus.

The next morning we headed out to the airport to fly home.

And I am tired!
