Walk alongside a lake and pond on a paved trail, stopping at the playground to fly across a zipline at Boulevard Park in Lake St. Louis, Missouri.
This is a .7-mile walk with 23 feet of elevation gain in a park that includes a playground that my son enjoyed.
Playground
I was here with my son, who first put his hands around the plastic-covered rope to go across the zipline. There are two lines, so more than one kid can use them simultaneously.
Then he went up ropes across poles that led to a long slide.
Another structure includes a circular slide connecting stairs, rope ladders, and a climbing wall.
A swing set with sling swings, an adaptive swing, and regular swings are nearby.
Younger kids can enjoy a smaller playground with a baby swing, a rock wall, a double slide, a teeter-totter, and a spinning seat.
After the playground, we went up the hill to a pavilion to have lunch and use the restroom.
Start of the Walk
From the pavilion, we headed south.
Next we walk by baseball fields.
This trail intersects with some trails that go to neighborhoods and a school.
Then, the trail goes through an area of trees.
Three evergreen trees mark the start of a paved trail going north toward the parking lot.
I continued west to Ronald Reagan Drive and proceeded north along this street.
Next, I come to another intersection and go uphill. A small garden with a Blue Star Memorial Highway sign fronting it is a tribute to the U.S. armed forces.
For a long walk, I could have continued along the road to Lake St. Louis Boulevard and made a left at the park’s border.
Back of the Lake
I took a more scenic walk and followed a trail at the back of the lake, leading to a blue-roofed gazebo. In the middle of the lake, there is a large fountain that spreads water out across it.
I find a turtle sunning himself on this warm fall day along the rocks.
If you look to your left along the walk, you will come across rock ledges, which, in summer, serve as an outdoor amphitheater.
Pond Area
I came across a U.S. flag at another intersection and went to the right towards a park road.
Then I crossed the road and then went to the right.
I continued along a trail that circles a pond.
Next, I came to a trail to the left that crosses a wooden bridge and goes by the playgrounds.
Then, I was back at the parking lot.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a short paved hike around a park and lake, with a playground and a zipline for kids, this is the perfect park to visit.
