Starting the Walk

I parked in the lot to the west of the aquatic center. The walking trail begins on the southwest part of the lot. A park map is at the front.

To the right of the path is a playground with climbing structures, a boardwalk, slides, and swings. Behind it is a large pavilion, which a school group was using on the day I was there.

Next, I passed by a wooden bridge that led into woods over a dry creek bed. It connects to another nearby neighborhood.

Then I came to the back of the park. If you take the path to the right, you are still on the ¼ mile ADA Accessible Trail and you can end the walk.

I decided to keep going and do the 1/3 mile Walking Trail that goes up a hill.

By the Cabin and Aquatic Center

I turned left off the Walking Trail and around a gazebo to visit the O’Fallon Historical Society’s Log Cabin Museum.

The museum’s collection includes a doll-house-sized replica of Zumwalt’s Fort, Wabash Railroad items, 19th-century hats and clothing, an immigrant’s trunk, and a folding bed for covered wagon travel.

The cabin is open May – September: Second and fourth Sunday, Noon – 3 p.m. and by appointment.

After going by the cabin, I went along a sidewalk to the east of Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center and by a picnic pavilion.

At the front of the aquatic center, I found stairs, went to the left. Then I took a sidewalk back to the lot where I parked.
