Start of the Walk

I parked in small lot on Gatty Street in Old Towne Park.

Next I walked to the left towards downtown by a baseball field.

I continued on past Park Street.

Near the corner of Gatty and Park Street is a two-story log cabin. (main blog photo)

Two Story Log Cabin

The cabin was originally constructed and owned by Jacob Sattler around 1835 at a location near Belleau Creek Road.

In 1995, Sattler’s donated the cabin to the Old Town Association, and then the City of St. Peters donated the land for the cabin across from the park.

At Christmas time, the cabin is used for Santa visits.

Downtown Area

Next, I continued north on Gatty Street. Soon, I noticed a rock monument on the left, near the levee. It commemorates the construction of the Old Towne Levee in 2001.

Then I turned right into downtown and spotted the Schneider Hardware store, a brick building across the street with an upper deck.

Next, I pass Mike’s Archery; many arrows are displayed in the front window.

At Church Street, I made a right to head back to the park.

I strolled through the park on the left side of Church Street, near the horseshoe pits.

Next, I headed towards a playground and around it to walk along a tree-lined field.

If your children accompany you, they can have fun at the playground, which includes slides, a boardwalk, climbing structures, and swings.

Then, I walked west until I came to the lot I parked in.

This hike is mostly level, with only 7 feet of elevation gain, which I did to check out the levee memorial. It is near downtown St Peters, Mo., and Mid Rivers Mall. There is freeway noise by the field and playground area.
