Explore the castle playground which includes towers and boardwalks going in all different directions at Schranz Memorial Park in Swansea, Ill.
Castle Playground
The castle structure has secret passages and places to hide which allows the kids to have a fun game of Hide and Seek.
This game was going on with the kids at the park when we arrived and my son happily joined them.
After the kids left, he still wanted to play so I also went and hid around the castle.
There are plenty of walls and backspaces that as an adult I could hide behind. Slides are all over which allows for quick escapes if your hide-and-seek becomes a game of tag.
Afterward, my son Andrew used his strength to climb up a high wall.
A large rock structure was in the playground and he climbed into the middle area to go to the top.
This playground also has monkey bars, rings, swings, a tire swing, and an adaptive swing.
You can play the xylophone using bars and a mallet.
Or play a game of Tic-Tac-Toe on a board here.
My son enjoyed being the captain of a wooden boat and leading the stagecoach on these other structures.
Tot Playground
For younger kids, a fenced-in playground includes baby swings, an adaptive swing, a small slide, monkey bars, and a pretend ice cream truck.
Walking Trail
After the playground, I walked along the short paved trail that went through the park as my son rode his dirt bike.
This trail goes by the back of the restrooms crosses a wooden bridge then leads to another parking lot. Although, there is no connection to the next part of the trail that goes behind the playground so we went along the road for a bit.
Then it goes by a baseball field. A cement path branches off the trail and goes south to Wolf Creek Drive. My son was not up for this, but if you want a longer walk you can do this as an out and back. Stay on the trail since there are a lot of private property signs along it.
We went to the right passing by the splash pad then making our way back to the parking lot near the playground.
Splash Pad
In the middle of the park is the fenced-in splash pad with spray guns and fountains. Although it was closed since we were at the park in the fall.
Final Thoughts
This is a great park for kids. My son loved the castle-themed park and exploring this playground.
