St. Peters: Creekside on Brookmount Trail Hike

Hike along a clear, pebble-filled stream and through forests on the Brookmount Trail in a quiet neighborhood in St. Peters, MO.

This is a 1.9-mile out-and-back paved trail, mostly flat, with only 46 feet of elevation gain.

Start of the Walk

There is no dedicated parking lot for this walk, so I parked on Carrington Drive just north of Willott Road and walked south along Carrington. Then, I turned right to walk along Willott Road for a short distance and found the beginning of the trail on the right. The trail is marked by a brown sign reading “City of St. Peters Trail.”

As I walked along, I came across a wooden clubhouse for the children in the neighborhood. This trail seems to be a favorite hangout for local children.

Further along, I pass red blooming roses. Plantings can be seen throughout the trail.

Then I came to an evergreen and bush. To the right is a connector trail from Alexis Court. You can also access the trail from this cul-de-sac.

I cross a wooden bridge over the creek, a tributary of Spencer Creek.

As I looked down, I saw a creek filled with pebbles, water gently rippling over the rocks.

Left Side Walk of the Creek

Now, I was on the left side of the creek, where the trail continues past the neighborhoods.

I noticed a natural surface trail that led down to the creek.

This was a lovely spot to enjoy the view of the creek. Looking into the water, I saw a school of small fish.

As I came around a bend, I encountered rabbits that seemed used to people and did not jump away until I was right up on them.

The creek approached the trail, and I took one last look before it ended on Mexico Road.

From here, you can walk along this busy road, going right along a pedestrian bridge if you want a longer walk. I opted to head back.

Turning Around

On the way back, I noticed another natural surface trail leading into the woods near the bridge, likely a neighborhood connection.

Final Thoughts

This was a scenic walk, with a clear creek, large trees, and gardens along the trail that enhanced my enjoyment of this jaunt.
