Take a Walk and Play at Jaycee Park

Bring the children to play at Discovery Playground and then explore Jaycee Park on a paved path in St. Charles, Missouri.

Overview

This stroll covers a half-mile loop around the park with just 46 feet of altitude gain. The path is also suitable for strollers, making it perfect for a leisurely walk with the children following their time at the playground.

By Parking

Parking is located in the center of the park. I walked to the right, passing by the Discovery Playground.

Discovery Playground

The playground is designed for unlimited play, allowing children of all abilities to play alongside their siblings, parents, and friends.

It is a place where children can learn to accept each other. Ramps, handrails, steps, swings, and special surfacing are provided to make play accessible for all.

A fence encloses the playground to ensure that young kids can safely explore and enjoy the playground.

Swings on the playground

The playground features roller slides, tunnel slides, and boardwalks accessible by ramps. Children can also play outdoor musical instruments. Additionally, there is a spinning rope merry-go-round and swings.

After passing the playground, I turned right and found a spray park with a shallow man-made creek, a waterfall, and sprays along the path. It is open from May to September.

Around the Fire House

Next, I walked along the paved trail behind the fire station, turning left. Along the way, a lending library box is painted red to resemble a fire station, with painted windows and a fire garage on the side.

The path then leads to the right. A trail to the left leads to a neighborhood. In the distance, across a small stream, I read that a hill is used for sledding in winter.

Now, I make a right and take the sidewalk along Elm Street.

I cross the park entrance road. Here, you can see a statue of a girl doing the splits on top of a boy in a flower garden.

On the other side of the entrance is the park sign, which is surrounded by a bed of flowers, evergreens, and bushes.

By the Baseball Fields

Next, I make a right back along a paved path by baseball fields.

A massive tree fronts the baseball field, and I wonder how long it predates the park.

Then, I am back by the playground once more.

Final Thoughts

This is a pleasant half-mile walk. This neighborhood park is near downtown St. Charles and shopping centers along Interstate 70. A playground, a splash pad, and a paved path make a fun day outdoors for families during the summer.
